OUR VALUES
All of the core values of the Vineyard movement are close to our hearts here at the Gadsden Vineyard; they're all part of the specific place we believe God has given the Vineyard to stand in as part of His Kingdom.
But if we had to put words to how those values particularly translate in our language, in our local community, we might narrow it down to these two words: intimacy and compassion. Above all else, we value intimate relationship with God. We want to know His heart and become more like Jesus every day. And out of this wellspring of true and ever-deepening relationship, He shares His heart of compassion by allowing us to participate in the work of His Kingdom in all sorts of ways. Whether it's through sharing His story, through healing, through simple acts of kindness...we want everything we do to come from that place of relationship, and to point people toward the love of the Father. |

OUR MISSION
There's a running joke in the Gadsden Vineyard: we're sometimes referred to as a "waystation church." It's really only half a joke.
We earned this nickname because, over our more than 30 years as a church, we've seen hundreds of people come and go, and we have remained a rather small fellowship on the whole. People have come to get healed, to grow up, to be trained...and to meet God. Many of them have become missionaries, church planters, worship leaders, or gone off on some other adventure God was inviting them into. We don't say this to toot our own horn, but to clarify our mission: Equipping the saints (Ephesians 4:12). Whether people stay or go, if they're with us for a season or for a lifetime, we feel that the primary mission God has given us as a church is to outfit His people with a mature, healthy knowledge of the God who is present, powerful, and loving. We want everyone who walks in to leave with a better understanding that God loves them, wants a real relationship with them, and is inviting them to participate in the work of His Kingdom. |
OUR BELIEFS
This booklet (PDF file) contains our complete Statement of Faith, complete with scripture references, but here's an abbreviated version that hits the highlights:
We believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God.
We believe that the Father sent His son Jesus to earth to live among us; that Jesus died for the sins of the world -- disarming the demonic powers that rebelled against God and brought darkness to His creation -- and rose from the dead on the third day. We believe that the Holy Spirit was given to the Church and empowers every believer to experience God's presence and expand His Kingdom in the world today.
We believe that one day, Jesus will come again to bring about the final defeat of Satan and all his evil works, and to fulfill the promise of God's finished work: a new heaven and new earth, and His reign established forever.
